ABOUT EKATERINA

Ekaterina Gorynina is a multifaceted musician.

Her passion, curiosity and openness for music are reflected in her repertoire, which ranges from Renaissance, Baroque, classical cello, oriental music, jazz, folk and contemporary music.

 

The main focus of Ekaterina's work is chamber music and theater.

 

She is a member of the Cantiga-Quartet (LAURENT LE FLASHER - violin, PHILIPPE VILLA - guitar and ANASTASIA MAXIMKINA - guitar), of a duo with soprano A. CHUDAK with the program of contemporary composers "Face to Face", of the ensemble of new music "El Perro Andaluz" as well as the "Dresdner Residenz Orchester" with which she has been playing for 4 years in about 150 concerts annually, etc.

 

Since 2018, Ekaterina has been participating in the production "Kabale and Love" for seven actors and a cellist at the “Schauspielhaus Dresden”, based on the novel by F. SCHILLER and directed by D. TAVADZE. In 2020 she premiered the work “Purity” with ANTON ADASINSKI and "Derevo Laboratorium" ("The Well Tempered Piano" by J.S.. Bach arrangement for cello).

 

Her passion for modern music led collaborations with contemporary composers such as I. SOKOLOV, K. PRASOLOVA and V. MARTYNOV (world premiere of the Symphony of Singapore in the Vladimir Symphony Orchestra, 2008 Tchaikovsky Concert Hall Moscow), in the ensemble "El Perro Andaluz" with H. LACHENMANN, M. ANDRE, H. OERING, A. SCHNEBEL and V. RANEV, as well as with the Berlin based composers B.WIGET and M. DOELEMANN.

 

She is a member of the International Guitar Festival Il De Re, France, the “International Elbfestival Dresden”, Germany, the Festival for Contemporary Music "Pan - Festival" Seoul, Korea and others.

 

Since 2018, Ekaterina Gorynina has been teaching cello at the Conservatory “Heinrich Schütz” in Dresden.

 

Born in the city of Dzerzhinsk in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Ekaterina Gorynina received her first music lessons from her mother. At the age of 16, she joined the cello group of the Vladimir Symphony Orchestra, where she gained first experiences in orchestral playing and studied a significant part of the orchestral repertoire for three years. She received her university degree from the State Academy Maimonides, Moscow and the Academy of Music, Dresden.

 

Ekaterina's creative development and technical improvement was strongly influenced by two cellists of the Russian and German schools: O. BUGAEV (Moscow cellist/teacher) and M. WILDE, cellist of the Staatskapelle Dresden.

 

In addition to her main instrument, the cello, Ekaterina is enthusiastic for another instrument, the viola da gamba, and in 2018 began studying (master's degree) at the University of the Arts in Berlin.
